DEVELOPMENT OF A WEB-BASED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR COOPERATIVE MULTIPURPOSE SOCIETY ACTIVITIES

Abstract

Assessment of co-operative society’s financial management through processing, storage and retrieval of their financial transaction records requires high level of accuracy, completeness, security and timeliness. The manual effort expended in the process of registration of members, computation of members’ dividend, recording and retrieval of each member’ transaction on monthly basis is tasking and more demanding. The study is undertaken with the main objective to create an environment that is capable of improving the management financial transaction, giving a fair returns assessment to all members of the society, and curbing corruption by the leadership, weak and submissive management. An attempt has been made in this research work to develop a web-based management processing system interface that enable each intended individual to register as a member of the society, view their monthly transactions, apply for loan and access internal or external information in a personalized form via the internet after necessary processing activities have been done. The system developed can be deployed for use in different operational setups e.g. FUTA as client-server with centralized database setup which require functional network-intranet/internet. Microsoft SQL Server 2012 was used for database system, Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 C# was used to develop the transaction processing interface, while ASP.NET was used to develop the web-based interface. The system provides transparency in all operations of the society and ensures that due processing is strictly followed especially during the course of filling loan application form by any member of the society and carefully eradicates the delay in the end-to-end processing of loan application forms submitted.
