dc.description.abstract The identification, isolation and quantification of behavioural patterns are essential steps in the determination of an individual's personality. The society which an individual belongs to, has influence on his/her personality (or behaviour). In a society like Nigeria, a group is identified by determining the authenticity of specific physiological and behavioural characteristics the group may posses. The recognition of behavioural patterns by human beings sometimes often lead to hasty generalization because of limited characteristics the valuer could think of at a material time. Basically, human beings draw conclusions without specifically stating the degree to which individuals depict the behaviour of a particular group. In this study a neuro-fuzzy expert system has been developed for the recognition of behavioral patterns of some selected ethnic group in Nigeria. The system christened NFESBR is implemented in Visual Basic 6.0 application environment and incorporates neural networks, fuzzy logic and statistical procedures with appropriate inference engine for the evaluation and matching of behavioural patterns using seven physiological characteristics, which includes Oral Language Skills, Reading Skills, Writing Language Skills, Religious Habit, Greeting Habit, Dressing Habit and Eating Habit. The case study of the Ibibio Ethnic group of Nigeria has been carried out to demonstrate the functionality of the system. The results are also reported. The results on selected persons show that Writing Language Skills has the highest success likelihood of the respondents to the behavioural pattern of the group under study followed by Eating Skills and Greeting Skills. The lowest success likelihood is depicted by oral skills attribute. It could be concluded that in the identification, verification, authentication and matching of persons behavioural pattern, Oral Skills is a major factor followed by dressing skills and reading skills. en_US
