| dc.description.abstract | This research examines the Effect of Water Pollution by Industrial wastes in Port Harcourt Metropolis with reference to two local governments Itche and Ikwerre. This Study examines the effect of water pollution by industrial wastes on health and economy of the residence of Port Harcourt metropolis. Three research question guided this study with the general objective being the effects of water pollution by industrial wastes in Port Harcourt metropolis. A total of four hundred (400) questionnaire were used to elicit answers which were found useful for analysis. Frequencies, percentages and tables and standard deviation were used for the collection of data from the respondents. The study was carried out using participant observation, primary and secondary way of gathering data. Pearson correlation was used to determine the significance of the effect of water pollution by industrial wastes on health and economy which were significant. On heath P=0.040 (two tailed) > 0.05 and Economy P=0.040 (two tailed) > 0.05. There is need for the government to set up an independent body comprising of both government and community to monitor the level of compliance to environmental laws. | en_US |
