dc.description.abstract This research examined the effect of management practices on building collapse in Lagos state, Nigeria. The aim of this research work is to evaluate the importance of planning in minimizing building collapse, investigate the importance of organizing and controlling on building collapse and examine the importance of staffing in reducing building collapse. A sample of 145 respondents from three (3) agencies responsible for regulating and making laws that guides the conduct of construction industry in Lagos state Nigeria. Questionnaires were used to collect data from respondents. The data collected were analyzed using only descriptive statistical tool which are frequency table, percentage, mean, standard deviation. The study showed various importance of planning phase in construction industry. Also revealed are the major causes of building collapse in Lagos state which are using of low quality materials, patronage of quacks and using unskilled personnel to supervise construction projects among others. The study concluded that, Proper planning phase should be carry out before commencement of construction works, skilled personnel should be used in handling construction projects, standard materials of good quality must be used in construction and proper monitoring and control must be put into place in order to reduce the level of building collapse. en_US
