dc.description.abstract The study examines the effectiveness of project management tools as a panacea for buildingquality project delivery in Oyo State, Nigeria with the specific objectives of identify the essential elements needed in formulating and executing the projects. Identify the constraints militating against project management was assessed and the managerial processes required for effective project management. The study uses ex-post facto research design with the research tools of structure questionnaire design to collect data from expected respondents in the study area. Although most of the findings were based on primary data, references were made to relevant books, journals and research papers. The Likert scale is based on 1 to 5 ranges were used for data collection. The tools used for the analysis of the data include percentage, mean and relative significance index (RSI). The investigation shows that there are many approaches to achieve successful project design and construction. It could also be deduced form the analysis that the managerial processes are significantly very strong as the least of them on the significance level is of RSI value of 0.85 (i.e. 85 per cent significance). This is an indication that adhering to these managerial processes means a success assurance. Trouble shooting and team dynamism, organizational structure and project methodology were ranked sixth, seventh and eighth with RSI values of 0.85, 0.82 and 0.75, respectively. Others, in their respective order were legal considerations (RSI value = 0.74), project work plan (RSI value = 0.72), performance parameters (RSI value = 0.69) and project overview (RSI value = 0.68). As it has shown from the analysis, the RSI values of these constraints were significantly high which are all above 50 per cent significant level. It means that these constraints are very germane if a project is to be managed effectively. Therefore, they must not be handled with levity and need be taken seriously during the course of project forecasting and planning. Finally, the essential elements for successful project management with recommendations are stressed. en_US
