dc.description.abstract Public-Private-Partnerships (PPPs) is a relatively new initiative adopted to increase public housing provision in Nigeria. This study sought to examine the outcomes of the adoption of PPP in public housing provision in urban areas of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nigeria in last five years. This study has three objective. First, to examine the extent to which the adoption of PPP contribute to increasing urban housing stock in FCT, to assess the affordability of housing units provided by PPP and assess the level of satisfaction of residents of housing units provided by PPP in FCT, Abuja. The study used a survey research design, which involves the use of structured questionnaire. Using stratified random sampling technique in order to identify respondents within the selected housing estates, a sample size of 150 respondents were selected for this study. The study found that the level of participation of developers in providing infrastructure in housing estates in FCT was high as well as the level of contribution of PPP in increasing urban housing stock in FCT. Also, the adoption of PPP has reduced slums and ghettos in FCT. However, resident’s preference for housing units constructed under PPP arrangement in FCT is moderately high while the level of provision of affordable housing units by PPP in FCT is low. Statistical results show that Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient is significant at 95% confidence level (p = 0.000; < 0.050), hence the null hypothesis, H0: There is no significant relationship between the housing units provided by PPP and resident’s level of satisfaction is rejected. Based on the findings of this research, the study concluded that Public Private Partnership (PPP) has improved housing development in FCT, Abuja and Nigeria in general within a shorter period than government housing development (Public sector), however most of the housing units provided are not affordable by the poor. en_US
