Abstract:
Human capacity development strategies are the backbone of the success in every organization. The research focused on the evaluation of human capacity development in Ondo State Building Construction Industry. It was observed that the building industry has been plagued with collapse of buildings with resultant calamities in the recent time. However, the study assessed human capacity development approach used to develop the building construction staff. Also examine the challenges faced by Ondo State construction industry in developing their professionals and identified the human capacity development method preferred by the professionals. The design of the study follows the pattern of a survey research. Data was collected both from primary and secondary sources. A set of questionnaire was prepared specifically for the professionals and contractors in the study area. In making the findings of this research possible, ninety eight (98) copies of questionnaire were administered, and the total number of ninety two (92) copies was retrieved (93.9%) and used for the analysis. The data collected were analyzed using One-way ANOVA. The findings show that, the level of human capacity development in the construction industry in Ondo State was very low (40%). Also show that, the human capacity development variables have direct effects on output of building construction industry . From the study, it was recommended that formulation of human capacity policy should be adopted. Also, provisions in terms of funds and personnel should be made available for regular training, while training should be carried out constantly for the professionals and contractors in the Ministries to achieve desired output of building construction. In conclusion, the Ministries should formulate a forward looking plan to ensure that the necessary human effort to make it possible for the survival and growth of the organization becomes imperative to develop the employees.
