dc.description.abstract The study investigated the effect of strategic management process (SMP’s) on project success in construction companies in Lagos state. Using Yamane (1973) sample size formula, from a total population of one hundred and eighty five (185), the study obtained a sample size of one hundred and twenty seven (127) professional staffs in the enlisted construction companies under study. The construction companies were selected using convenience non-random sampling techniques. Primary data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire. Data were analyzed and presented using tables, frequency, percentage distribution and mean ranking. Inferential statistics such as multiple linear regressions were used in analyzing the research objectives and testing the research hypothesis. The results showed that the male respondents dominated the study area representing 80.5% while the female respondents were 19.8%. Also 51.9% were ages 41 to 50years dominated the study area. Findings from the study suggest that the level of adoption of strategic management process in construction companies in Lagos state is neither high nor low. Therefore implying that the awareness of strategic management process as a new management approach has been stimulated in the construction industry, but it’s not yet a common business management practice, due to lack of insight of its usefulness as a veritable tool for improving project success. The linear regression model between the variable revealed the predictive strength of SMP’s on project success an R2 value of 0.536. The study null hypothesis, Construction project success is not influenced by strategic management process, is rejected. The result further concluded that the adoption of strategic management process by organizations especially in the construction industry will increase project success and also its survival in the actual dynamic and continuous change environment. en_US
