dc.description.abstract For a developing country such as Nigeria, hotels make up a significant number of the projects being embarked upon by the government and private investors especially in states seeking to develop their tourism sector. The provision of befitting hotels to meet this present needs is a necessity, but it must not compromise the ability of future generations to meet their needs. The impact of buildings on human health and the environment at large is great, but it is reduced through sustainable measures. Consequently, the use of sustainable building materials in a building would definitely have great impacts on its users and their environment. This research is aimed at studying existing sustainable situations in hotels and discovering strategies of achieving sustainability focusing specifically on materials efficiency.
