| dc.description.abstract | Cultural Centre design is an endeavor that seeks to preserve, conserve and protect buildings, objects, landscapes or other artifacts of historical significance. It tends to refer specifically to the preservation of the culture of a people. This project therefore focuses on the people of Benin and Edo state on the use of landscape and cultural artifact in preserving the monumental heritage of the Benin people thereby promoting their identity and originality. Hence, in this project the different historical culture of Benin was studied in order to understand how to accommodate the past with the present and merge it with the future, and still preserve the originality of the Benin people. Therefore, by means of analyzing the various case studies, both foreign and local, this project has detected an obvious need to maximize the use of cultural artifact and landscape in preserving the culture of the people. Finally, a cultural centre design has been put forth to showcase how cultural monumental heritages can be preserved through landscape elements and cultural artifacts. | en_US |
