dc.description.abstract Clients’ dissatisfaction has been seen as a challenge to the 21st century Quantity Surveyors. Using a survey design approach and information from archive, this research examined the influence of Quantity Surveyors’ experience on the main project objectives of time, cost and quality performance as well as the service quality of the Quantity Surveyors. The target respondents were the registered professionals in the building industry. Stratified random and convenience sampling techniques were adopted. Data collected were analyzed using percentile, mean item score, spearman’s rank correlation and multiple regression. Reliability/validity test was conducted on the research instrument using Cronbach’s alpha (α) test. The study revealed that, Quantity Surveyors require high level of experience to effectively perform their principal services to enhance project performance. The major key experience indicators identified to evaluate the experience of Quantity Surveyors are: quality of previously delivered project, familiarity with project and number of projects previously handled and it was revealed that, the key experience indicators have high importance in achieving project performance. It further revealed that Quantity Surveyors’ experiences have high impact on Quantity Surveyors performance and critically needed in achieving Quantity Surveyors service quality. The study established that there is moderate relationship between Quantity Surveyors’ experience in practice and their performance in influencing project time performance, while number of project previously handled have significant relationship and effect in influencing cost and time performance of construction project. The study therefore recommend early involvement of experienced Quantity Surveyor including the number of projects previously handled as a major criteria in the selection of Quantity Surveyors needed for construction project delivery. en_US
