dc.description.abstract The general trend to development of skills and competencies has necessitated an in-depth search on the satisfaction derived by the multiskilled Quantity Surveyors in consultancy firms. This research therefore appraised the result of job satisfaction of multiskilled Quantity Surveyors with a view to increasing retention rate. A pilot survey conducted on the respondents which are the multiskilled Quantity Surveyors in consultancy firms in Lagos State revealed that only 40 were multiskilled, 40 structured questionnaires were thus administered and 31 were retrieved. Data gathered were analyzed using mean, percentile, Relative Importance Index, Standard deviation, Mann- Whitney U statistics, dendrogram of data cluster analysis and Pearson correlation to establish relationship of skill areas. The hypothesis was tested by chi-square cross tabulation. The study revealed that competency is a major factor promoting multiskilling with an index value of 0.86. It was further revealed that the level of satisfaction of multiskilled Quantity Surveyors was average as the workers still had challenges with welfares, job security, salary and entitlement among others. More so, a high positive clear link between job satisfaction and performance with a value of 0.0029. Therefore, it was concluded that competence is the principal ingredient which makes multiskilled Quantity Surveyors to diversify to another area of optional competence, also to enhance retention of employee by their employers; salary/wages of the employee is the most paramount among the factors that promotes job satisfaction. Also, there exist a high positive correlation between job satisfaction and performance. It is therefore recommended that payment of wages and salary should be given adequate attention, also that regulatory authority should enforce positive attitude to welfares. More so, adequate priority should be provided to ease skill acquisition. en_US
