Abstract:
Online booking systems can be developed for bus stations, airports, hotels, cinemas
and other centers that engage in reservation. Imagine a cinema with different branches
and diverse regions; there may be a need to have different services for such regions.
Therefore, uniformity is needed for systems like this and having multiple sites just to
cater for the diversity in services may be too cumbersome and confusing for
customers who migrate from one region to the other yet still wishes to patronize the
cinema. In order to remove this complexity, the research therefore, developed a
customer centric online booking system for cinema house called FLOW Inc.
Hypertext MarkUp Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) and JavaScript
were used for designing the front end, MySQL database as the back end and PHP as
the scripting language. The database was implemented in the XAMPP package.
XAMPP comes with the Apache as the server. Sublime Text 3.0 was used at the client
side for the development. After the development of the database server system, it was
successfully tested on a computer system with a 4 gigabyte RAM and an intel CORE
i5 processor of 2.27 GHz and tested on UC browser, and the test gave positive output
with little time lapses.
