EFFECT OF MATERIAL RESOURCE CONTROL ON BUILDING CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS DELIVERY IN OGUN STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract

The study assessed the effect of material resources control on building construction projects delivery in Ogun State. The study also assessed the level of material resource control on building construction projects delivery, examined the factors influencing material resources control on building construction projects delivery and evaluated the effect of material resource control on building construction projects delivery.The study used the descriptive research design. The target population comprised the stock keeper and project manager in projects site under each local government in Ogun State. A structured questionnaire was administered resulting in a response rate of 70%.The demographic profiles of the respondents were analyzed using percentages and frequencies. Multiple regression analysis established the relationship between independent and dependent variables. Under the first objective Level of material resource control on building construction project delivery in the study area, planning and control with the mean value of 4.36 and RII(0.87) was rated very high, surplus and waste control has very low from the respondents in the study area the highest value and surplus and waste control with the mean value 4.16 and RII(0.83).Level of materials control was rated by the respondent in the study area. The factors affecting the level of material resources on building construction project delivery, just in time method with communalities ( 0.823) was agreed as the major factors and the material planning method (0.298) was considered as the least factor. Third objective, effect of material resources control on building construction project delivery Regression of 43 percentage of variance independent variable has effect on the dependent building project delivery which is the time, cost, benefits and quality. The coefficient of effect of material resource control on building construction project delivery include the material handling which was rated very high with the value of 0.128 and inventory control which was rated very low with the value of -0.001.Research hypothesis, the P value of 0.848 indicates that material resources control is highly significant(p<0.05) on building construction project delivery. The study also help the stock keeper, project manager or material manager to achieve the goals in good factor of time, quality and cost. It was recommended that the stock keeper and project manager or material manager to know how to control material resource in building construction projects site
