There is a significant potential for e-health to deliver cost-effective, quality health care, and spending on e-health systems by governments and healthcare systems is increasing worldwide. The aim of this thesis is to help patients and physicians have easy access to medical information which will help to improve the health care system in FUTA. Also, to determine user’s acceptance on the usage of health portal using UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) model. Structured paper questionnaire was used to enquire about respondents’ perception on the adoption/usage of health portal in FUTA. Hypotheses were developed and tested using SPSS version 21. The result of the analysis carried out showed that all the independent variables (performance expectancy, effort expectancy, attitude toward using technology, social influence) have positive impact on the adoption of health portal except facilitating condition. The cronbach’s alpha statistics for each construct is greater than the yardstick 0.70, this shows that the items considered under each construct are consistent and thus reliable. The ANOVA result showed that the fitted model is significant having p-value <0.05. The coefficient of determination is 0.443 which implies that the independent variables account for 44.3% of the total variation in the adoption of health portal by respondents. Hypertext MarkUp Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) and JavaScript were used for designing the front end, MySQL database as the back end and PHP as the scripting language. The database was implemented in the XAMPP package. XAMPP comes with the Apache as the server. Sublime Text 3.0 was used at the client side for the development. After the development of the database server system, it was successfully tested on a computer system with a 4 gigabyte RAM and an intel CORE i5 processor of 2.40 GHz and tested on UC browser, and the test gave positive output with little time lapses. |
