dc.description.abstract In Nigerian industries, machines are procured without most times putting into consideration some regulating measures as to the procurement whether there is need or not and also a machine asset may be reported as being fully utilized but still not provide 100% of its theoretical productivity. Therefore, there is need for a tool to predict adequately the level of machine utilization in Nigerian Industries. Hence, this study identified all the factors affecting machine utilization and these were used to develop a mathematical model to determine accurately the machine utilization level. Data collected were from two industries to validate the model. The companies studied specifically here are the Top Stay Nail and Wire Company (T.S.N.W.C) Osogbo, Osun State and Aquados Table Water Company (A.T.W.C). It was observed from the result that T.S.S.W.C had Machines Throughput (𝑀𝑇) of 49.240.58kg/month with eleven (11) machines which is k, and since k > 𝑁𝑀, it showed that the machines were over-utilized. From sachet water in A.T.W.C., machines were properly utilized since it was shown in the result that Machine Throughput (𝑀𝑇) was 48567 bags/month and k = 𝑁𝑀. Also, from table bottle water in A.T.W.C., machines were under-utilized since the result 𝑀𝑇 = 43056cartoons/month and k < 𝑁𝑀. This model is a strong decision tool in the maintenance department of any industry. It is also concluded that it can also help in proper planning for the machine procurement and future expansion. This model is highly recommended to any manufacturing company, small, medium or large scale industry in which machine utilization affects their production rate and machine procurement en_US
