dc.description.abstract The advent of wireless technology and advances in telecommunications, the use of mobile phones (GSM) by all categories, classes and ages of people has become widespread. While this is laudable, the abuse of this technology has however been on the high side in recent times. People often tend to forget and sometimes deliberately use their phones in unauthorized places such as banking halls, confidential meetings correctional facilities and examination halls. In a bid to curbing some of these excesses, there is need for technology such as phone sniffers. In this research work, a mobile phone sniffer is designed using appropriate computer aided design CAD tools. The code is written and embedded on the microcontroller of intel8051series (Atmel 89c52) to control different activities of a single and multiple sniffers this linked with central LCD that indicates the sniffers activities with mobile phone positions. The sniffer can detect signals of all brands of mobile phones in an active mode and indicates sniffing of signals with the aid of a Light Emitting Diode(LED) blinking and Buzzer alarming en_US
