| dc.description.abstract | In the community, HIV/AIDS projects are mainly implemented by Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). While the emergence of these groupings ought to provide the continuity and long-term commitment required for sustainable development, many CSOs do not have the organizational and technical capacities needed for designing, implementing, and monitoring effective HIV and AIDS interventions. The purpose of the study is to assess project management practices on implementation of the second HIV and AIDS Funds (HAFII) projects by CSOs in Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The study was guided by three objectives namely; to investigate the effect of strategic planning on implementation, assess the effect of training on project management practices on implementation, and to determine the extent of monitoring and evaluation practices on implementation of HAFII in the study area. Descriptive survey methodology and cross sectional design was used in the study. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select 47 respondents using the Krecje’s and Morgan’s, (1970) sample size determination table. Structured questionnaire was self-administered for data collection and the data was analyzed using smartPLS M3 and SPSS 25.0 and presented through descriptive statistics. The study findings revealed that strategic planning; monitoring and evaluation practices on implementation of HAFII (SP -> HAFII: β = 0.549, t = 1.391) and (MEP -> HAFII: β = -0.851, t = 2.111) demonstrated an evidence of significance relationship, while training on project management practices on implementation of HAFII (TPMT -> HAFII; β = -0.034, t = 0.179, P < 0.10) demonstrated evidences of a non-significant relationships. This study concludes that strategic planning lays the groundwork for successful project implementation. CSOs with clear, well defined and written down vision and mission statement has a better chance of been successful and implementing project successfully. The study suggests improved reporting and documentation of the project activities in order to improve the monitoring and evaluation process. | en_US |
