Abstract:
The aim of this study is to develop a comprehensive risk assessment in construction and building industry, in order to improve and manage building construction project satisfactory in Nigeria. A structure questionnaire survey approach was used as a primary tool for data collected for the study. The structure of the question was divided into three parts, the first part, is the background information of participants, organization, position, qualification, experience, size of employee, the number of projects at hand, type of projects. The second section was about risk and construction, industry in FCT and its environs. This questions about risk and the purpose were developed due to the risk factors contributing to construction project abandonment or failure in Abuja. The third part of the questionnaire was to investigate, identify and analyze the data obtained from the literature and compare with primate data obtained from the industry and organization directly. The study as identified material price fluctuation as the most dangerous risk which occur in every construction projects in Nigeria, followed by the attitude of construction participants. However, the study as recommended to the industry should analyze the risk involve before bidding for any project. Moreover, vocational training is recommended to develop all workforces in the construction industry project. The data obtained from the study was analyzed using Relative Importance Index and SPSS and Microsoft Excel for the Study. The study has developed risk management guideline framework suitable for improving building and construction project success
