| dc.description.abstract | High quality of service is a paramount concern in wireless networks. One of the strategies in achieving optimal performance is to use wireless empirical models to predict wireless link factors such as path loss and the received power in any given transmission domain with irregular terrain. The primary goal of this study is to develop a radio wave propagation model for Ado-Ekiti metropolis. An assessment was carried out within the city of Ado-Ekiti, to determine the quality of UHF signal reception by measuring the signal field strength of the broadcast signal of Ekiti State Television (EKTV). The result of the measurement was therefore analyzed and a path loss model was developed for Ado-Ekiti using linear regression model. Three empirical models in literature: Okumura-Hata model, COST-Hata model, and Egli model were also applied in predicting the path loss in Ado-Ekiti and result obtained was compared with the developed model. The result obtained from the comparison shows that Okumura-Hata model has the least standard deviation value of 21.97 for the general model while COST-Hata and Egli models has a higher value of 23.32 and 23.25 respectively. Also for Route D, Okumura-Hata model has a standard deviation value of 15.16 while COST-Hata and Egli each has a value of 16.50 and 28.49 respectively | en_US |
