| dc.description.abstract | The Traffic congestion in the urban area happens to occur more frequently than it does in the past due to higher rate of road vehicle users. The traditional traffic light system makes use of a predefined timer which is less effective and efficient, and has not been able to reduce traffic congestion, waste of time of drivers and it does not give priority to emergency vehicles like an ambulance. This project presents the design and implementation of an intelligent real-time traffic management system using IoT. The system adopted Fuzzy logic, RFID technologies and Ultrasonic sensor to improve traffic conditions. This system was simulated using Proteus 8 Professional software and was modelled using Blender app. Precision, Recall and F-measure was used for the performance evaluation. The system was compared with the work of Ugwu & Bale (2014), where the Precision of the system is 80.58%, Recall is 83% and F-measure is 81.76%. The system was also compared with the work of Hasan Omar Al- Sakran (2015), where the Precision of the system is 83.33%, Recall is 85% and F-measure is 84.17%. The Precision for this system is 86.27%, Recall is 88% while F-measure is 87%. This therefore makes the performance of the system better than that of the existing system. | en_US |
