dc.description.abstract Wireless technology has progressed significantly over time. The reason for this growth is the allowance of mobility and access in many areas of applications. The transfer of high-speed data with advanced mobile phones and smart devices, voice communications are few examples of the areas of application of wireless networks. A mobile network is a communications network spread out over a geographical location and connected wirelessly by transceivers at fixed locations called base stations. The quality of service in a mobile network is the level of satisfaction an end-user has derives from service. As a result of mobility, the quality of service for each user needs to be maintained. A voice call in progress when the user moves from one cell to another is called a handoff call. When the cells they migrate to do not have free channels, the call automatically dropped, which will disrupt the quality of service. The shortcoming identified could be solved with a channel borrowing scheme that transfers the call to a neighboring cell with free channels. It was discovered that the traditional fixed channel borrowing technique was unable to perform well when there is a surge in the number of users; therefore, the overall quality of service reduces. In this research, an adaptive channel allocation scheme was designed using channel borrowing with channel re-ordering technique. The implementation was done using MATLAB. The results showed that the model reduced outage and overall call blocking rate without sacrificing bandwidth utilization. en_US
