Abstract:
The management of a cadastre information system has prompted considerable research with a focus limited to land registration. The approach of using the system for land use charges collection in Akure metropolis has not been sufficiently discussed and which can facilitate the increment in revenue. This research aimed at developing a cadastre information web-based system for land use charges collection in Akure metropolis. To achieve this, the research identify the current situation of collecting land use charges in the study area. The land charges rate to be collected from property owner were provided by the Ondo State Board of Internal Revenue (OBIR). Property Owner‘s information are being provided by the property owner during online registration in order to make use of the website. A Sas Planet image which is a Georeferenced high satellite image was digitized and formed a basis of web map use in the system. The system was developed for easy accessibility of property owners to pay land use charges in their comfort zone especially to assist the Covid-19 social distance protocol which limit the overcrowding. Analysis and testing of the efficiency of the website and web map was performed and various results were generated according to the area classification and land used.
The system provided the basis of ranges of solution to issues relating to existing system for land used charges collection in association with the development of a cadastre in a digital and internet enable environment. The study will ease the task of the land use charges authority as they will not need to meet property owners physically all the time. The research will serve as a guideline for other research work for the generation of revenue for the government.
