Abstract:
The research identifies the conditions or scientific literacy, decline in school science educational system in Nigeria as issues 'that need to be addressed to uplift the
nation's economy and manpower development and the dire need for out of school
scientific activities and learning cxpcncnces. It establishes a connection between
childhood development and science learning. The vital roles out-of-school scientific
activities play in complementing in-school education and how they can bring about
science enjoyment. These activities create a rich learning context and have been proved
useful in developing children's intrinsic motivation towards the sciences. The research
further proposes the creation of a science learning centre (Children's Science Village)
which offers varIOUS out of school scientific activities as an effective architectural
solution to the sociological problem existing in our educational system.
