Abstract

It is necessary to plan hospital design to provide solution to the problems of the fearful, hopeful and often miserable human being who is called the "patient" who to some people is a number, to other a beating heart, to some a nuisance, to other a shadow and to himself he is a enigma often ignorant of his condition. Coupled with the resolution of the different traffic pattern add to these, the need for sympathy on the users, People want architecture which is warm and comforting to the senses, architecture which is pleasant to live with, which caters for man as he is and not for man as an abstraction architecture which is seen to be appropriate to its purpose bearing in mind the habitual attitudes and responses of the people who have been brought up in the society. The goal of this thesis is to create a lasting hospital which will be comfortable to the users in terms of making emphasy on effective ventilation and highly as therapy in hospital building and environments thereby accelerates the rate of medical care for patients. It is expected that the 217 bedded design of general hospital complex for Idanre Local Government with special emphasy obstetrics and gynaecology department would not only be highly efficient in function but would be aesthetically appealing as beauty is recognized to have a therapeutic value. Finally, effective use of space for parkings and movement pattern within the hospital shall be given thoughtful consideration. So as to facilities smooth running of hospital services for the patients.
