| dc.description.abstract | The world of sport is an institution in the sense that values and norms are specified concerning the expression of physical activities in the form of athletics. Sport is one of the most pervasive institutions in modem society. It permeates society from the societal level down to the consciousness of the individual. From educational perspective, sports in institutions may either support or subvert formal academic goals. but these largely depend on the institution and the role sport play in the life of the students. The unbalanced academic life of students tends to increase the vigour and tension in students social life on campuses, hence, the menace of students insanity which increases during examination periods. Studies have thus revealed that this phenomenon are mostly induced by the decreased or non-chalet attitude of students toward recreation; Probably because of the ignorance of benefits derivable from such or due to unavailability or inadequacy of the necessary recreational facilities. The social life of students on the campus are gradually decreasing in friendliness probably because of lack of standard sports complex and facilities to bring them together for necessary relaxation to enhance good relationship amongst them. This study is thus set to examine the effect of sports in improving the student's physiological (strength), sociological (student's relationship) and physiological (mental alertness) status on campus. | en_US |
