Abstract:
The Lagos Metropolis has been severally referred to as the country’s entertainment and media capital
making it the seat of the creative industry in Nigeria. Despite the level of attention being generated by
the creative industries at both the local and global levels fundamentally as a result of the
interdependence with new media technologies, and because they are considered as an essential source
of innovation and contributors to national wealth, it has been observed that the creative industry in
Nigeria suffers from substandard production and a low level of employee productivity. This study was
carried out to review the different types of interventions and how they affect employee productivity
with a focus on life coaching and factors that contribute to effective life coaching.
Data were collected through a structured questionnaire from 111 respondents in the creative industry
in Lagos state, Nigeria that were selected using purposive sampling techniques. The study objectives
were assessed with Mean test, Chi-Squared test and z-Test. The results of the study showed that
coachee efficacy and coaching conditions contribute significantly to life coaching outcomes. The
results also showed that educational qualification has the most significant influence on employee
productivity from other assessed factors that were not related to life coaching. Finally, the results
showed that life coaching effectiveness marks a significant difference between an experimental
coaching group and a control treatment group. This implies that coachee efficacy, coaching conditions
are very essential to life coaching outcomes and employee productivity. Recommendations for
executives and suggestions for further studies were made based on the results of this study.
