dc.description.abstract The global energy crisis has necessitated more research into the field of energy and environment which will enhance the achievement of sustainable energy development in line with the sustainable development goals (SDGs). This study assessed the effect of socio-economic and Psychological factors on energy conservation behaviour as well as the effect of energy conservation behaviour on electricity end-use efficiency in Akure-South Local Government Area, Ondo State with a view to improving electricity end-use efficiency. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire from 329 households in Akure Metropolis, Nigeria, that were selected using cluster and purposive sampling techniques. The study objectives were assessed with both descriptive (Mean and Standard Deviation), inferential statistics (Partial Least Square in Structural Equation Modelling) and Model for the Analysis Energy Demand (MAED-II). The results showed positive and significant relationship with socio-economic variables: electricity price, household size, income, number of appliance and weather, as shown in their path coefficient as follows: bSEFEP (β = 0.131, t = 2.528, ), bSEFHS (β = 0.173, t = 2.804,), bSEFI (β = 0.191, t = 4.707,), bSEFNA (β = 0.168, t = 2.999,), bSEFW (β = 0.244, t = 3.806,). The results also indicated positive and significant relationship with psychological variables: awareness, habit and locus of control, as shown in their path coefficient: cPFAW (β = 0.196, t = 3.292,), cPFH(β = 0.186, t = 2.711,). In addition, the results illustrated positive and significant relationship with appliance upgrading (self-control measure), dECBSCU (β = 0.204, t = 2.038). The study concluded with the implication that, householders would save more electricity by cultivating better energy saving behaviour and use more energy efficient appliances if energy efficiency policy makers focus more on the following: Providing energy saving incentives to improve householders income; Promoting the need to replace old appliances with new and more energy efficient types; and integrating energy awareness improvement strategies at household level. en_US
