| dc.description.abstract | This project was designed to examine the role of micro credit in improvement of lives of rural populace in Cross River State. The study location was Obanliku Local Government area of the State. Research methodology involves collection of data using structured questionnaire from.secondary and primary sources. Purposive sampling technique was used to select four communities comprising of beneficiary and non beneficiary and random sampling technique was explored in selecting respondents from the communities. Data for this study were analysed using descriptive statistics and descriminant analysis. Descriptive statistics like frequency distribution, tables and percentages were used to describe the socio economic characteristics while discriminant analysis was used to discriminate between the use of credit and other variables with a view to providing insight into the existence of significant determinants of good users of micro credit. The study has shown that the establishment and participation in the micro credit scheme has brought enormous positive impacts on livelihood and socio economic activities of the people of Cross River State. In view of the findings from this study, individuals, Government and Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) have' been encouraged to promote micro credit scheme in both urban and rural areas to assist farmers, entrepreneurs and petty traders by providing a strong capital base for their businesses. | en_US |
