dc.description.abstract The model used for optimizing the blast furnace input parameters is described. It is based on the mathematical description of the stoichiometric and enthalpy balances of blast furnace process, and quantifies the amount of fuels required for producing a specific amount of pig iron and the effects of varying these inputs. The models were communicated into a linear optimisation Computer program written in MATLAB. The designed operating data obtained from the Nigerian blast furnace at Ajaokuta steel complex, and the parameters of various fuels used were input into the program. The outputs generated were analysed. en_US
