| dc.description.abstract | Experimental investigations have been carried out to study corrosion and stress corrosion susceptibility of plain carbon steel in wood pulp and white liquor with or without the addition of Hg+ + and Sn+ + ions under the influence of heat treatment by using weight loss and stress corrosion test methods. Result obtained showed that susceptibility to corrosion and stress corrosion cracking is a function of the cooling rate from the austenitising temperature. Potential measurements revealed potentials at which corrosion will occur and where passivity will occur while pH values decrease' with exposure time which implies increasing acidity with or without the addition of Hg++ and Sn++ ions in both wood pulp and white liquor. | en_US |
