| dc.description.abstract | This work examined sanitation facilities in residential districts of Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. With a view to ensuring that improved sanitation facilities are in place in the city. All the existing sanitation facilities in the study area were identified; the study also took into cognizance the interest of the people on the use of improved sanitation facilities. It examined relevant government agencies; like Ekiti State Water Corporation and Ekiti State Ministry of Environment (Environmental Health Department). And corporate organizations’ involvement in the provision and management of these facilities. Information and data were obtained directly from the targeted population using structured questionnaire, oral interview and personal observation. The questions provided in the questionnaire were directed to the household population in the area. Meanwhile, questions were used for oral interview. Personal observations were complemented with the use of photography for on-the-spot assessment and recording of the conditions of some sanitation facilities in the study area. For the purpose of this research, systematic random sampling was adopted in the administration of questionnaire on residents of the three residential areas of Ado-Ekiti. Two broad techniques of data analysis were employed to explain the result of the findings. The firstisthe Univariateanalysis inform of tables, maps, figures, andphotographs which describe the necessary features ofthedata set. Thesecond techniquewasthe Bivariate analysis using correlation coefficient which was deployed to determine the type and strength of relationship between variables. The finding revealed high number of households using improved sanitation facilities; the analysis also indicate that, there are still some households who use bush and pit latrine without slab. The research concluded, among other things, with a suggestion that Ekiti State Government should enhance partnership with Federal Government and NGOs like WHO and UNICEF to improve public health and sanitation. | en_US |
