PROPOSED PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY FOR THE NIGERIAN AIR FORCE, NAF BASE SHASHA, LAGOS. (Emphasizing Human Comfort and Production flow In the Internal environment)

Abstract

Nigeria Air Force (NAF) is a highly technical arm of the forces, one of such groups that Impacts positively and greatly In man power development of the nation. In satisfying adequately the health care or this group, their family and other members of the society, It Is Important to build a pharmaceutical Industry that will meet the challenges of the 21st Century. This research looks Into the Internal environment, temperature control, protection from solar radiation, day lighting/artificial lighting, ventilation, acoustics, dust extraction, protection and security, production flow as well as location analysis and design criteria. The research involved physical observations and personal experience, more importantly, three case studies were carried out at Neimeth Pharmaceuticals plc. Ikeja, Drug Manufacturing Unit NAF Base and SKG Pharmaceuticals Limited Oba Akran, Ikeja Lagos. It was found out that most Infrastructural facilities are not functioning due to lack of maintenance, the staff comfort is hampered, production flow are disrupted, shortage of offices and auxiliary services are observed during the case studies, the fact attributable to inadequate funding, therefore, it Is Imperative that the federal government and the NAF authority should make it a priority project In order to improve the quality of life by making drugs available in NAF hospitals and commercializing the industry to generate revenue for the running of the company.
