Abstract:
Many people usually forget to turn off appliances before leaving their offices which could cost them a lot of money. Also, certain devices should not be put ON all the time. It may lead to economical wastage because of payment of electric bills during the times it is used. With the advent of prepaid meters in the country today this circuit will prove invaluable to electricity consumers in terms of saving cost This project developed a Microcontroller-Based automatic control for office electrical devices in offices. This device makes it possible for office electrical appliances to be controlled automatically. The device was implemented using ATMEL 8052 Microcontroller, the PROTEUS ISIS a software used for designing the electronic circuit emulator; TOPWIN 6, a software for writing assembly codes; and TOPWIN2007 + universal Microcontroller Programmer the hardware used for ‘burning’ of the converted program, into the Microcontroller (AT89C52).
A circuit consisting eight appliances was designed. Each appliance was represented by a light bulb. The circuit also had the ability to increment or decrement the appliances. The appliances operated at different timing programmed by the Microcontroller. The circuit was then tested for effective performance.
