| dc.description.abstract | The research focused on evaluating the performance of Ondo state government in the housing sector within the time frame of 1999-2014, considering the delivery rate of the state housing agency (OSPDC), identifying the socio-economic status of the residents of the state’s housing scheme (housing units), the level of satisfaction derived from the housing schemes and the constraints facing the state housing scheme. The study used a survey design in sourcing primary data through interview and questionnaire. . The data gotten was analysed using descriptive statistic, frequency tables were used to present results and findings. An inventory of the housing schemes within the time frame under review was taken. The socio-economic status of residents of the housing schemes was identified using some socio-economic factors such as age, education level, annual income and so on. Also the level of satisfaction derived from the housing units was measured through the analysis of a rating of some housing factors done by the residents. While the constraints faced by the state’s housing scheme was identified by professionals in the housing sector. The result of the study showed that the housing delivery rate of the Ondo state government (OSPDC) was at 34 housing units per annum with a total of 516 housing units built within the years reviewed. The residents of the state housing scheme are highly educated with 54.7% having BSc and 45.3% having Masters and above. 85.7% were senior civil servants while 14.3% were self employed, both with an annual income of #1.1 million and above. The study also revealed that the satisfaction derived from the state’s housing scheme was on the average with a rank of 2.9 on a scale of 1-5. The research study also identified some of the problems facing the state housing scheme and concluded with recommendations on how to improve the housing scheme and deliver more housing units to the citizenry. | en_US |
